La 67a edizione di BRAFA Art Fair è appena iniziata e ha già fatto registrare un boom di vendite, con in testa le opere dell’ospite d’onore Arne Quinze, più che mai profeta in patria. Sono 14 i dipinti dell’artista belga acquistati dai collezionisti nel primo fine settimana della manifestazione, esposti dalla galleria Maruani Mercier.
In questo grande ritorno in presenza di BRAFA, per la prima volta negli spazi di Brussels Expo, Quinze con il suo stile variopinto e coloratissimo firma anche l’allestimento/installazione pensato per regalare ai visitatori dell’evento un’esperienza immersiva in oltre 5.000 anni di storia dell’arte.
La prima opera venduta in assoluto, poco dopo l’apertura, è stato invece il prezioso Cristo dello scultore fiammingo Jan III van Doorne (Mechelen, 1616-1663), esposto da Floris Van Wanroij Fine Art e acquisito dal Rijksmuseum di Amsterdam.
Molto bene anche gli italiani, con la milanese Dalton Somarè, specializzata in arte africana, che ha subito collocato diverse opere, tra le quali una figura guardiana dei Kota del Gabon della prima metà XIX secolo, per una cifra intorno ai 70mila euro.
Durante il primo fine settimana, la galleria parigina Xavier Eeckhout ha assegnato diverse sculture a tema animale, tra cui un piccione dalla coda piatta in marmo bianco, 1925, di Jan e Joël Martel, e un bellissimo Anon africano, in bronzo, di Armand Petersen, ciascuno per un prezzo compreso tra 45.000 e 60.000 euro.
Die Galerie ha venduto un disegno firmato da Paul Delvaux per 80.000 euro. Francis Maere tre opere di Dodeigne, una delle quali per 185.000 euro e altre due per 85.000 e 35.000 euro.
La galleria belga Serge Schoffel ha ceduto l'intera collezione di “rombi volanti” del Golfo di Papua a un unico collezionista per oltre 50.000 euro.
Baronian ha trovato un acquirente per un'opera di Robert Mangold, Four squares within a square 3, 1974, per 320.000 euro.
