ELECTRIC MOTORS: GROB LANDS IN USA FOR COILTECH NORTH AMERICA
Italian technology stars at the first edition of the fair dedicated to coil winding
Fotografie HR - Free downloadOn Wednesday, June 11 and Thursday, June 12, 2025 at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi (MI), just outside Detroit, GROB Italy (booth I33) is participating in Coiltech North America, the first U.S. edition of the trade show that was born in 2010 in Pordenone, Italy, and has become over time the reference event for the Coil Winding and coil making technologies industry for motors and transformers.
An event that unites the past and the future of mobility, but also two historic automotive capitals. In fact, in what has been the cradle of the American automotive industry, the Italian subsidiary of the group, a global leader in the production of machine tools and automation systems, will bring technologies dedicated to production lines for electric motors developed in the Pianezza plant, just outside Turin.
GROB Italy lands at Coiltech Novi as one of the few references on the international market able to provide technologies that cover the entire production process of an electric motor.
From the feasibility study to the development of the project in all its phases, Grob experts work alongside companies to bring to life tailor-made projects with varying degrees of automation in all areas of electrification: from stand-alone machines up to customized lines for different sectors, including automotive.
“For GROB Italy Coiltech Novi represents a prestigious international showcase, an opportunity to present our advanced technological solutions to a global audience. This event allows us to consolidate our role as a supplier of turnkey projects for the production of electric motors,” emphasizes Maurizio Giammaria, Division Manager Electric Motors at GROB Italy. “The presence of Italian technologies in such a competitive sector is a sign of strength and innovation for our country and shows how Italy can excel also in the high-tech industry.”
At Coiltech, GROB Italy will present solutions for distributed winding and coil insertion stators, radial and axial flux segmented motors, and permanent magnet or wound rotors. Among the strengths of the Italian technology, the patented “antitwist” winding allows more copper to be inserted into the slots, increasing motor efficiency. The modular structure of the lines also allows rapid adaptation to different production volumes.
The electric motor production lines designed by GROB Italy are distinguished by their high modularity and flexibility. The stand-alone machines developed in Pianezza can be integrated into complete systems via robotic cells or conveyors, optimizing the production flow and reducing downtime. Each process step can be managed independently, with the possibility of creating customized configurations according to the application area.
GROB Italy also brings to Novi technologies for the production of fuel cells, one of the most promising solutions for the energy of the future. In this area, too, the company offers flexible and highly customizable lines, confirming its role as a technology partner in the transition to more sustainable mobility.
